Verdurous Drift

Ciaccia Levi, Paris, 2024

“Verdurous Drift represents a new direction in Sande's practice. The paintings displays a revived confidence in the hand and eye and a certain weariness to the conceptual. The works are inspired by "rosemaling," a decorative painting tradition by Norwegian farmers since the 1700s, featuring repetitive floral motifs on everyday items. Historically, rose painters would travel from farm to form, creating site-specific paintings. Created from May 6-10, 2024, the works in 'Verdurous Drift' reflect this same contextual spirit.”
